Wood Selection

Northern Pine

A light colored soft wood with tons of character  in its  knots, swirly grains and beautiful cathedrals. Sometimes as the wood decays, it leaves beautiful hews of green and blue in its outer sapwood

Spruce

Similar to pine, it too has distinctive character within the tree. Spruce often boasts darker grains and knots particularly in its outer sapwood and often enhanced with stains or oils

Douglas Fir

An extremely strong, resilient wood known for it's tight linear grain pattern although presenting a very clean finish piece. Knots and cathedrals are sometimes present

Maple

One of  the prettiest of the hard woods, Maples offer strength, character and beauty. Often covered with cathedrals, ribbons, knots and quite often spaulting which is the natural decay that creates unique black swirly lines in the grain.

Northeastern Cherry

Cherry is a hardwood that is well sought after in furniture building. The wood speaks for itself. Aside of its distinct,  unmistakable color, Cherry finishes extremely well and offers a grand scheme of different characters.

Northern Red Cedar

A unique aromatic softwood, the red cedar boasts colors and character as no other does. From pinks and reds to beautiful yellows, greens and browns in it's outer sapwood.  An unmistakable one of a kind!

Red Oak

Extremely heavy and solid, red oak is no  stranger to the furniture industry. Due to its abundance , durability  and its character, it is a go to wood of choice for many types of furniture.

White Oak

Virtually impervious to rot and decay, white oak is a heavy solid wood known for its cathedral patterns. lighter than the red oak, it too finishes well particularly with stains and oils.

Hickory

An extremely hardwood with  rich darker grain pattern in its heartwood. Very solid and heavy in nature. Finishes extremely well and presents a stunning final look.

Ash

Ash is a very light colored, dry hardwood that has extremely intrinsic character in it's grain patterns particularly when stained or tinted.

Black Walnut

Seemingly the most sought after hardwood in the live edge furniture business, this rich and elegant dark wood catches the eye of everyone who looks. Knots, Grains, Cathedrals, Ribbons, Stitching, Purples, Blues, Browns and yellows, enough cant be said for this stunning species.

Birch

Birch is a very light, very strong hardwood. Closely related to  oak, it is in the same family as alder. It finishes well and has tight linear grains with the occasional characteristic knots.

Our Standard Base

Handcrafted  by Green Mountain Tableworx, our Standard base features square 3"x3" or 4"x4" post style legs, straight edged skirt boards with decorative routered bottom. 3" legs used with our coffee tables or benches and the 4" with all tables ordered with standard base.

Our Semi-Custom Base

Handcrafted by Green Moutain Tableworx, our Semi-Custom base offers the same 3"x3" or 4"x 4" square post style legs used in our standard base, however with this option, we add live edge skirt boards as opposed to the standard straight routered in that of the standard base.

Finish Options

Dull-Rub Urethane Finish

Our Sprayed dull rub catalyzed urethane topcoat provides a classy low sheen while protecting your piece with a strong resilient finish.

Satin Urethane Finish

Just a bit shinier than our dull rub, Satin offers the best of both worlds in sheen. Very durable topcoat with a touch of gloss.

Gloss Urethane Finish

Fully amplifying the beauty of your piece  by magnifying the character through a crystal clear gloss. Still offering superior protection, dressed up with a brilliant shine.

Epoxy or Polyester Resin

This is a chemically hardened 2 or 3 part process that is poured over your piece, self levels and finishes with a built up gloss equivalent to 70 coats of gloss urethane. Very common on bar tops or pieces that wish to make a statement. Photos and objects can be placed and cast into this resin to become an integral part of your piece.

Antique or Whitewash

A unique finishing system that creates a milky whitewash or aged cracking appearance. Can be coated with the urethanes or resins such as epoxy or polyester to further enhance.

Acid Treated

A finishing process in which acid is applied to the piece to create an older or reclaimed look. Further finishes such as urethane or resins can be applied over this process to further enhance this effect.
